Setting up shop … 2

Most of the ‘stuff’ has been moved into the new ‘lock-up’. The leftover 2.2 m x .9 m sheet of yellow-tongue flooring for the lock-up, paired with 12 m of 4″ x 2″, was transformed into a work bench/table.

The hull of the kayak/canoe has been primed and sanded, ready for some colour. I also made a template for Kermadec’s grab rails. Making these from Tassie Oak will be a good exercise in getting used to the new plunge router. The grab rails will have to follow the curve of the deck. Each of the the rails will be laminated from two 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ ( or three 8 mm x 60 mm ) lengths.  They should look like this … just a bit longer ( ~ 1,200 mm ) and curved.
